Pistoresi Sponsored SWAT Medic Program
Madera County Tactical Medical Response Team

The Madera County Tactical Medical Response Team was started by Deputy Dan Jackson. In 1993 Dan was beginning his seventh year as a Paramedic with Pistoresi Paramedics of Madera. It was also in that year Dan was hired as a as reserve deputy for the Madera County Sheriff's Department. After reading about Tactical EMS in JEMS Dan prepared a proposal and presented it to the ambulance service and then the sheriff's office. After all the necessary approvals and paperwork, Dan was assigned to the SWAT team and thus began the only SWAT-Paramedic program in Central California.

The Madera County Tactical Medical Response Team was uniquely formed. It is operated under a mutual agreement between Pistoresi Paramedics of Madera and the Madera County Sheriff's Department. This requires tactical medics be employed by both agencies because both agencies provide needed insurance coverage.

A new member, Louis Wilson, will soon join the Tactmed Team. Louis has been an employee with Pistoresi Ambulance for nearly 2 years. He is sworn in as a level 3 officer and is currently taking classes through the Reserve Peace Officer's Academy. In addition to his classes he is currently training with the Swat Team and will be fully certified / qualified to respond to call outs with the team in December of 1998.
