TransLink Transfers Patients for Move to Valley Children’s Hospital

September 2, 1998

Ambulances and wheelchair vans from medical transportation providers in five central California counties converged on the Fresno campus of Valley Children's Hospital to carefully transport infants and children to the new facility in Madera County. This was the first major contribution from TransLink, an association of independent ambulance providers that serves Fresno, Kern, Madera, Merced, and Tulare counties.

According to Michael Delaney, Executive Director of TransLink. The ambulance services who form TransLink have been to Valley Children's Hospital many times, but thiswas the first time we've coordinated our resources to provide a community service of this magnitude. We felt it was a wonderful opportunity to help the kids, and a great way to introduce ourselves to the valley and the communities we serve.

Hospital staff involved key people from TransLink in drills and planning conferences to ensure a smooth transition to the new campus. All time, labor, vehicles, supplies, fuel and equipment were donated by the member firms of TransLink. The TransLink providers include American Ambulance of Visalia; Hall Ambulance of Bakersfield; Med-Stat of Fresno; Pistoresi Ambulance of Madera; Riggs Ambulance of Merced; and American Ambulance of Fresno.
